Radon gas can enter a home through the ground to the air above and into your house through cracks in foundation walls and in floor slabs, construction joints, gaps around service pipes, support posts, window casements, floor drains, sumps or cavities inside walls. Testing for radon is affordable and accurate. Health Canada recommends that all homes, schools and workplaces be tested to determine if there are elevated radon levels. It also recommends a 3-month test during the heating season for the most accurate results. The test is called a passive test and uses no electricity.
